Ever fake ring a bell? Take a long time writing down not at homes?
by yourmomma inmy whole life, even when i pioneered, i dreaded field service.
i was always uncomfertable rolling up to peoples houses uninvited.
so i used to have this technique where i would pretend to ring the bell.

The use of the 'feather duster' knock was useful aswell. I didn't mind 'accidental' witnessing but hated going to peoples houses cold. Glad I don't have to do that again.

Can't go far wrong with a bit of Deep Purple, its not obviously demonistic like Black Sabbath or the like, and is reasonably melodic enough to lull parents.
Can recommend 'Machine Head' or 'Stormbringer' or 'Rapture of the Deep'. Or send him some Pink Floyd or Hawkwind....mind blowing stuff, especially through headphones.
Or just plain old kick ass rock n roll of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Let us know what you get him.

Agreed Mr majestic,
It has made us the people we are today,at least that was what my 19 year old son said the other day and he was never baptised but brought up as a witness. He doesn't go now either.
He has turned out a wonderful, level headed kid with a lovely girlfriend............apart from the fact he wants to play for Manure Utd......ewwwwwwwwww!!!

Hi Rusty,
You will find people here from all over the world, all in some way disillusioned with the 'Borg' as its called on here. Enjoy your time, talk and let it out,its very theraputic!
Wher in the world are you?

songs that help you cry....
by wings inno matter how much you want to avoid it...crying is necessary sometimes.
for me, i need help with it....too many distractions in my life.
i almost have to plan crying....so for me music aides in releasing emotion, helps me just be me for an interval of time.

Music does a lot to me,but...there has only been one track that made me cry,and that is 'The last resort' by the eagles from 'Hotel California.
I used to listen to it on headphones when I was a kid of 16 and then kinda left it for a while.........fast forward to '96 when i bought the 'Hell freezes' over video and when that song came on it brought back all the memories of my care free( despite the troof) childhood.
Buckets and buckets.!! Its such a powerful piece of music.

Car culture differences between Europe and America
by Simon ineuropeans and americans seem to have very different culture when it comes to cars which automobiles being much more enshrined in american culture (i'll ignore the obvious oxymoron joke .
for instance, off the top of my head i can think of quite a few references to cars in songs or just driving but they are always american songs and cars.
no one sang much about moris minors or hilman imps i guess and getting kicks on route 66 sounds so much more impressive than the services on the m6.. likewise with films, cars feature in american films but hardly ever in british ones (ok, chitty chitty bang bang and the double-decker bus in summer holiday are the exceptions).. does this explain the different attitudes toward cars on each continent?.

A car is just a box on wheels made for getting around, its nothing special, when there arn't any bigger boxes called buses running. I don't even wash mine,I let the rain do it.
Now,if I had a Norton Commando 850......that would be different!

More like 'Don't believe a word' by Thin Lizzy which is my ringtone.
Or sometimes, when I'm in the mood, its 'Layla' by Derek and the Dominoes.
Rock on good people!!
